Neu-Isenburg, Germany, 30 October 2020 – Premium tyre maker Hankook has received the gold medal at the 2020 Galaxy Awards in the category “Annual Reports – Online” for its CSR Report 2019-20. The Galaxy Awards, which celebrate their 31st anniversary this year, are an international marketing communications competition organised by U.S. based MerComm Inc. The globally unique and independent awards recognise standards of excellence in the communications industry and are renowned worldwide for their impartiality and fairness in awarding prizes. No advertising, membership fees or sponsors are accepted. Instead, experts from 50 countries judge the entries based on values, such as creativity, clarity, effectiveness, and innovation. This year, a total of 15 categories were considered, including advertising, brochures, videos and annual reports.
Hankook, which took part in the competition for the first time, achieved an outstanding performance, winning the gold award with its CSR Report 2019-20. It is the company’s 11th sustainability report, highlighting the tyre maker’s social achievements and initiatives. The report focuses on the following eight key areas: customer satisfaction and quality management, integrated environmental management, climate change and GHQ management, community engagement and development, transparency and business ethics, employee value creation, employee health and safety management as well as supply chain partnership.
“At Hankook, we are very proud to use our skills and influence for the greater good, including our service to communities and the environment,” said Sooil Lee, Hankook Tire President & COO. “We will continue our commitment to sustainability to contribute to positive developments for the world.”
In addition to the 2020 Galaxy Awards, Hankook Tire has repeatedly received recognition for its social contribution and communication by participating in various internationally renowned competitions. For example, the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) has honoured the tyre maker for four consecutive years since 2016 for its CSR reports. Hankook has also been listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices World (DJSI World) index since 2016. In 2019, Hankook was the only Asian company in the automotive supply industry to be listed in the DJSI World.
