Seoul, Korea / Neu-Isenburg, Germany, 25th November 2020 – Premium tyre maker Hankook and its state-of-the-art R&D centre, Hankook Technodome, has received  the “Certification of Exemplary Laboratories in Safety Management” issued by the Ministry of Science and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in Korea. It is the first time that a tyre company has received this certification in Korea. The certification is only granted to laboratories which have successfully passed an expert assessment by leading professionals in the field. The certificate program aims to strengthen the safety management capabilities of science and technology laboratories at research institutes, as well as to identify and promote a standard model for laboratory safety management.

Hankook Tire applied for the certificate program in April this year with its Flat-trac CT+ Laboratory and Chemical Analysis Laboratory located at the Hankook Technodome. The experts examined various areas including safety systems and related activities, as well as the awareness of designated safety officials on these issues. As a result, the Flat-trac CT+ Laboratory and the Chemical Analysis Laboratory have been identified as exemplary laboratories in safety management.

“A certification from the Ministry of Science and ICT means that our laboratories are fully equipped with a standard model for excellent safety management,” said Bonhee Ku, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Hankook Tire. “As the safety of our customers and employees is always at the top of our priorities, we will continue to make every effort to ensure that our facilities are operated and certified in accordance with the highest safety standard.”
