Seoul, Korea / Neu-Isenburg, Germany, 11 August 2026 – Premium tyre manufacturer Hankook announced its consolidated global financial results for the second quarter of 2026, reporting revenue of KRW 5.6824 trillion (EUR ~3,254.9m) and operating profit of KRW 559 billion (EUR ~320.2m). Revenue and operating profit rose 5.8% and 58.1% year-over-year, respectively.
In the tyre business, sales grew 11.8% year-over-year to KRW 2.8073 trillion (EUR ~1,608.0m), while operating profit rose 39.5% to KRW 483.2 billion (EUR ~276.7m), with an operating margin of 17.2%. In the thermal management segment, Hanon Systems – consolidated as a subsidiary of Hankook since 2025 – reported second-quarter 2026 sales of KRW 2.8752 trillion (EUR ~1,646.9m) and operating profit of KRW 103.7 billion (EUR ~59.3m), while also returning to net profitability during the quarter.
Hankook achieved record-high quarterly revenue by continuing to strengthen its portfolio of high-value-added products, including 18-inch and larger tyres and EV-dedicated tyres.
By region, revenue growth was driven by expanded original equipment (OE) tyre supply and stable replacement tyre (RE) demand in key markets, including Europe and China. In China, in particular, replacement tyre sales increased notably as EVs entered their tyre replacement cycles.
In the second quarter of 2026, 18-inch and larger tyres accounted for 49.5% of total passenger car and light truck (PCLT) tyre sales, while electric vehicle (EV) tyres represented 31.8% of PCLT OE tyre sales. These figures are approaching the annual targets of 51% and 33%, respectively, reflecting Hankook’s continued focus on strengthening its high-value-added product portfolio.
In the second quarter of 2026, Hankook demonstrated its technological capabilities in the premium sports car market by supplying original equipment tyres for the Porsche 911 Carrera. Hankook further strengthened its presence in the premium SUV market by supplying original equipment tyres for Audi’s flagship Q7 SUV, as well as the all-new QX65 from Nissan’s premium brand, Infiniti.
Hankook also continues to strengthen its presence in the global EV tyre market through iON, the world’s first full-lineup EV-specialised tyre brand. The company incorporates technologies and data accumulated through the FIA Formula E World Championship, the world’s premier electric vehicle racing series, into its product development. The competitiveness of the iON lineup has also been recognised through many achievements, including a Winner award in the Product Design category at Germany’s Red Dot Design Award and an overall first-place finish in a tyre test conducted by German automotive magazine Auto Bild.
Hankook supplies racing tyres and sponsors participating teams in more than 70 global motorsport competitions, including the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo. Data and insights gained under the extreme conditions of motorsport are actively applied in the development of integrated tyre solutions spanning internal combustion-engine vehicles, electric vehicles, and next-generation mobility.
Hankook continues to strengthen its global supply capabilities based on the ongoing expansion of its Tennessee plant in the U.S. and its Hungary plant in Europe. Building on these expansions, the company aims to proactively respond to demand in key markets, including the U.S. and Europe, while further solidifying its market leadership by expanding global original equipment tyre supply.
